VA-1 — Privacy Policy.

VA-1 is a virtual-analog synthesizer published by Gillespie Audio. We respect your privacy and your device.
Data we collect
None. Gillespie Audio does not receive personal information, recordings, presets, usage data, or diagnostics from VA-1. The app runs no analytics, contains no advertising SDK or tracking framework, and sends no telemetry to Gillespie Audio or a third party.
Data stored on your device
VA-1 uses Apple's standard UserDefaults store on your device to remember:
- The list of presets you have marked as favorites.
- MIDI Learn bindings you create in the standalone app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Audio and MIDI routing preferences, including selected input and output destinations.
- Your last selected preset, so the app reopens where you left off.
VA-1 does not transmit this information to Gillespie Audio. It remains in the app's local storage and is removed when the app is deleted.
User-saved presets are written to your device's Documents folder and are subject to the same iCloud / local-backup rules as any other document.
WAV recording and export
VA-1 1.2 can capture its own stereo synth output and render a sequencer loop to a WAV file. Built-in capture records only audio generated by VA-1, including its effects. It does not use the microphone and does not record an audio-interface input.
Captures and sequence exports are first created in app-managed local storage. They leave that storage only when you choose an action such as Save WAV or Share WAV. Apple's Files interface, share sheet, and the destination app or service you select then handle the file under their own privacy terms. VA-1 does not upload recordings to Gillespie Audio.
Deleting VA-1 removes files that remain in its app container, but it does not remove copies that you previously saved, shared, or backed up elsewhere.
Audio and MIDI connections
VA-1 can communicate with audio devices and user-selected CoreMIDI inputs and outputs, including hardware, virtual, Bluetooth, or system-configured network MIDI routes. These connections are used only to play audio or exchange MIDI that you direct to the chosen route. VA-1 does not send that activity to Gillespie Audio.
Children
VA-1 does not collect any data, so it collects no data from children either. The app is suitable for all ages (rated 4+).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date.
