Does VA-1 work offline?
Yes. VA-1 makes no network requests. After install, no internet connection is required to play, edit, or save presets.
Do I need to buy VA-1 separately for each device?
No. VA-1 is a universal purchase — one $24.99 purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and native Mac. Sign in to the same Apple ID on each device and the app is available on all of them.
How do I connect a MIDI controller?
Connect your controller to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac the way you normally would (USB, Bluetooth MIDI, or a class-compliant adapter). VA-1 will pick it up automatically on all three platforms — there is no in-app MIDI setup step.
What does MIDI Learn do, and why is it Mac-only?
MIDI Learn lets you map any hardware CC to any on-screen knob by touching the knob and moving the hardware control. It's currently only on macOS because the workflow expects a mouse-driven “right click → learn” pattern. Touch-friendly MIDI Learn for iOS/iPadOS is on the roadmap.
Where are my presets and favorites stored?
User-saved presets are written to the app's Documents folder on your device, subject to the same iCloud / local-backup rules as any other document. Favorites and the last-used preset are remembered via Apple's standard UserDefaults. Deleting the app removes all of this.
Will there be a subscription or in-app purchases?
No. VA-1 is a single one-time purchase. No subscription, no ads, no account required, no tracking. Future updates to the app are free to everyone who has purchased.
I’m hearing audio dropouts, crackles, or latency — what should I try?
First, close other audio apps running in the background. On Mac, check your audio interface's buffer size in Audio MIDI Setup (larger = more stable, smaller = lower latency). If the problem persists, email me with your device model, OS version, and a short description of when it happens.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email me at the address below with your device model, OS version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot or short screen recording helps a lot. I read every message.
