Recording, Capture, and Bounce

Distinguish pattern REC, sample RECORD, audio Capture, and Loop WAV rendering.

Recording tools

Recording and rendering tools
ToolBehavior
RECRecords pad or MIDI hits, live ratchets, and automation into the active pattern while playback runs
QNTChooses how live hits land: OFF, 1/16, 1/32, or 1/64
CaptureRecords TEMPO-1 audio output as WAV for auditioning, sharing, saving, or bouncing
Loop WAVRenders the current loop as audio, including pitch, CND playback, and effects

Live pattern recording

  • This REC workflow records pattern events. To record audio into a pad, use SOUND > RECORD.
  • Arm REC, start playback, then tap pads or trigger voices from MIDI.
  • TEMPO-1 writes the hit using the current clock position and QNT mode.
  • Repeated taps on the same voice inside one step are captured as a ratchet.
  • Live ratchet capture maps 1 tap to x1, 2 to x2, 3 to x3, 4 to x4, 5-6 to x6, and 7 or more to x8.
  • A late-hit grace window helps slightly late hits stay on the intended step.
  • In AUv3, the host transport must be moving for MIDI or UI triggers to record steps.

Capture and bounce

  • After capture completes, audition, share, save, bounce, or delete the result.
  • Bounce to a destination voice and user-bank slot, then name and commit the sound.
  • Bounced sounds behave like imported samples and can receive step pitch where supported.
