Song Audio Recording

Set up mono or stereo input, choose monitoring, and record a take into an Audio track.

Record into a Song

  1. 01

    Choose an Audio track

Add or select an AUDIO track. Double-tap its TRK header to open the Song Mixer and I/O controls.

  2. 02

    Set I/O

Choose DEVICE and MONO or STEREO. In mono choose MONO INPUT; in stereo set LEFT and RIGHT input channels.

  3. 03

    Check the meter

Grant microphone permission if needed, confirm incoming level, and use REFRESH after connecting or changing an interface.

  4. 04

    Choose a monitor mode

Use OFF, DRY, or FX and set MON MIX for the cue balance. Headphones help keep monitored input out of the microphone.

  5. 05

    Prepare the take

Set the Song position and count-in as needed, then ARM this track. Only one Song track can be armed.

  6. 06

    Record

Use the shared top Record control. Stop when the take is complete, then audition or double-tap the new audio clip to edit it.

Monitoring and recorded level

Audio input controls
ControlBehavior
OFFNo live input monitoring.
DRYHear the incoming signal without the track FX monitoring path.
FXHear input through the track processing path.
MON MIXChanges the monitoring/cue balance, not the level written to the recording.
Audio SafetyWhen enabled, protected input is written to recordings. Raw meters still show interface clipping. Turning it off enables Raw Input Capture for the next take; monitoring and output stay protected.

If ARM or input is unavailable

  • Follow OPEN I/O in the notice to choose a valid input or resolve microphone permission.
  • Settings > OPEN AUDIO / MIDI PANEL shows the current route; OPEN MICROPHONE PRIVACY SETTINGS appears when system permission needs attention.
  • Reconnect an interface only after stopping a take; confirm device, channel selection, and meters before the next recording.
  • Direct input recording is a standalone feature. The TEMPO-1 AUv3 extension does not expose Song Mode or microphone/interface recording.

Keep a completed take

Song edits autosave, including recordings added to the arrangement. If recording is interrupted, use the recovery information the app presents instead of assuming the take was saved normally. Back up important work with EXPORT SONG.

Song track recording and the 30-second SOUND > RECORD pad sampler are separate workflows. Use the pad sampler for a playable one-shot and an Audio track for a performance along the arrangement.
