Song Mixer and Automation
Mix Song tracks with EQ and inserts, then draw or record movement across the arrangement.
Open the Song Mixer
Double-tap a TRK header in SONG. A single tap selects that track for placement and FILL; the second tap opens its mixer.
Balance track level, pan, mute, and solo, then choose the master strip when processing the complete Song. The Song mixer is separate from the 12-voice Pattern mixer under SEQ > MIX.
EQ and ordered inserts
| Tool | Use |
|---|---|
| 3-band EQ | Shape the tone of each Song track or the master. |
| Four internal insert slots | Choose effects in signal order for each track and the master. |
| Delay | Tempo-sync and ping-pong options. |
| Reverb | Add space and decay. |
| Modulation | Choose Phaser, Chorus, or Flanger. |
| Filter / Slicer | Shape tone or rhythmic movement. |
| Compressor | Control dynamics. |
| Limiter | Available in the final master insert slot. |
Draw and edit automation
- 01
Open AUTO
Use AUTO for the relevant Pattern, Song track, or supported take, then choose the parameter/lane you want to control.
- 02
DRAW
Tap or drag to create points. An empty lane needs DRAW before POINT can select anything.
- 03
POINT
Select existing points or drag to move them. Use ERASE to remove points and PAN to navigate the timeline.
- 04
Shape the transition
Where available, choose STEP for held changes or LINEAR for ramps between points.
- 05
Navigate and listen
Use zoom, FIT, the overview, and FOLLOW while auditioning. Undo/Redo revises edits; DONE returns to the musical workspace.
Record movement and tempo
- With the relevant recording/automation write mode active and playback running, move supported controls to capture their movement. Select the target first so the gesture writes to the intended track or voice.
- Pattern automation belongs to its groove; Song track automation runs across Song time. Check the workspace and lane before clearing or recording a pass.
- Tap the shared BPM control while SONG is visible to open SONG TEMPO. Set 40-240 BPM with the slider, +/-, a typed value, or TAP TEMPO.
- With Record/Write off, a tempo edit changes the whole Song. With Song Record on and playback running, tempo movements become points when no take is being captured. A take locks tempo until it finishes.
- Use REMOVE <BPM> AT BAR <bar> to remove a later tempo point. Clip timing choices determine whether audio follows tempo changes.
- Instrument automation exposes parameters supported by the installed plug-in. If no lane exists yet, DRAW can begin from the plug-in's current value.
- Use the relevant clear controls only after checking the selected lane/scope. A single control can have different curves in a Pattern and in a Song.
