Your First Song
Hear the built-in example, save a Pattern from it, and place that Pattern in your own new Song.
Use the built-in sounds
This lesson uses standalone Song Mode and the bundled TEMPO-1 Example Arrangement. You can follow it without a microphone, MIDI controller, imported sample, or extra instrument plug-in.
If you already made and saved a beat in Quick Start, you can use that Pattern and begin at Create your Song. The example is installed once; if you deleted it, use your saved Pattern for that route.
Hear a finished arrangement
- 01
Open the example
Choose SONG, then SONGS. Select TEMPO-1 Example Arrangement and choose OPEN, then DONE to return to the timeline. Selecting a row alone does not open a Song.
- 02
Listen
Press Play. Watch the arrangement move across the two tracks: DRUMS + PERCUSSION and MUSIC + TEXTURE.
- 03
Notice the sections
The example moves through INTRO, VERSE, BREAK, CHORUS, and OUTRO. Listen to how the two layers change together, then press Stop.
Keep one Pattern from the example
This step creates a reusable Pattern without rewriting the example’s arranged copies. Save any important unsaved Sequencer work before loading another Pattern.
- 01
Load a Pattern
While stopped, double-tap a Pattern on the DRUMS + PERCUSSION track. It loads that Pattern’s saved sound and rhythm into SEQ. If an unsaved-work prompt appears, cancel and save your existing Pattern first if you want to keep it.
- 02
Save a new item
Use SAVE in SEQ. Name the Pattern First Beat, choose an empty bank destination, and save the new Pattern. You can now choose it from the shared BANK in another Song.
Create your Song
- 01
Make the document
Return to SONG > SONGS. Choose NEW, enter My First Song, and choose CREATE SONG. Use DONE to return to its timeline and check that this new Song is active.
- 02
Select the first track
A new Song starts with one empty Pattern / MIDI track. Tap its TRK header once to select it.
- 03
Place the Pattern
Choose your saved First Beat, or the Pattern from Quick Start, in the bank tray. With the first Pattern / MIDI track selected, tap bar 1 on that row to place a copy.
- 04
Play it
Press Play. You should hear the Pattern while the Song playhead crosses the placed block. Stop when you are ready to continue.
Keep it, then choose one next step
Your Song autosaves as you edit. Use SONGS > EXPORT SONG to keep an editable backup; use EXPORT WAV when you want audio you can play or share.
To extend the arrangement, place another copy in an empty gap or use FILL after selecting the intended track and visible range. Add one layer at a time and listen after each change.
Optional: add a recorded part
When you want to perform another layer, record pads or incoming MIDI on a Pattern / MIDI track. A microphone take uses an Audio track, and an installed instrument plug-in uses an Instrument track. Each has its own setup; the Song you made above is already useful without them.
